Unified inbox - webmail pro
Multiple accounts feature for webmail pro is great. Just 1 idea, a way to have a global/unified inbox of all accounts as some webmails have.
Thanks
Implemented in v8.6.0:

Great news! Considering the growing demand for this feature, we decided to implement it. Coming soon.

Are there any enterprise customers willing to get this feature? Currently, it seems that it's mainly needed by personal customers so (considering the enormous amount of efforts required to develop and support this feature) it would never pay off.

Yes, it's great to have multiple accounts and a unified inbox
It is easier to get to know each new account quickly, but we suggest that you have 10 free e-mail accounts, and then if you want to add more e-mail accounts, ask them to buy a package -

If it's OK for you to grab all emails from different mailboxes into one folder, you can set up a POP3 fetcher which will do that (it will grab emails from other mail accounts and store it in your account, in the specified folder). This feature is available out-of-box in our MailSuite Pro solution. If you don't want to migrate to another mail server (MailSuite Pro is a mail server with webmail), you'll need to find and set up such fetcher for your mail server.

Hi,
I really need this feature. And I don't buy the performance excuse as if all of the emails are available in the web client it should be a piece of cake to create one place where they can all be viewed. I accept that it may be necessary to be taken into another folder to edit them but that's fine.... Please please please how fast can you implement this important feature?

It's not something we'll be able to implement in near future. It would require rewriting the webmail engine from scratch, and to support this, new engine will have to either use database to store emails (not acceptable by many of our clients) or work much slower (several connections to several IMAP servers will result in deadly slow UI).

Hey Alex,
Any news about this feature? :)

Hi Rob,
Currently, we're studying what kind of Unified Inbox our users have in mind. Thank you for your feedback.

Hello Alex Orlov,
Sorry for my late response!
I think that your solution will work. How can I do that? -

Rob,
Would it work for you if inboxes from diff. accounts were listed separately but on the same page (like if they were folders of the same account)?

I have just 5 email addresses but switching all the time is annoying :)
I use Mailbird on my PC but on my laptop I have linux so I use Webmail lite. -

I agree, as I and many others look to transition from a desktop client to a web based client this feature is key.

Implementing database support is definitely possible, but it's a huge piece of functionality so it's unlikely to be implemented anywhere in near future. Plus, it raises various performance issues too - it will be necessary to sync message list stored in the database with the actual message list on mail server.
And yes, having a number of unread mails next to each of the email accounts in the dropdown list sounds like something worth considering.

Isn't it a good idea to implement it like a option. So that each user or provider chooses that I wants to have an database or not.
Also, what a good idea would be is to have a unread number next to the accounts dropdown. Like you already have when you compose a new email.

Hi,
Thanks. Understand. I believe if an email is deleted, move to trash, if possible of correct account, if not, could be to trash of main account.
The big thing which some folks miss is the possibility to view emails of all accounts in 1 same inbox. I understand there are challenges, but perhaps as virtual folder it can be done and usually wont be an issue if person doesnt store so many emails in folder (if they do such as users that have huge amount in inbox, its already an issue anyways), shouldnt be a problem.
Hope you guys can find a way, would be a nice featurem, even if it has limitations.
Thanks!

Looks like it's actually the only way to have this implemented. Performance, however, remains the critical concern here: this approach would require sending lots of requests to IMAP servers of all the accounts used. This becomes especially important for operations such as navigating to next page of this unified message list.
Plus, this approach raises a lot of usability-related questions which require research - one of the examples is deleting multiple mails found in different accounts - should this be allowed at all? and if yes, should each mail be moved to Trash folder of respective account? and what happens if the folder doesn't have a Trash folder? and so on.

Hi,
cant it be some virtual folder? so it could show emails in normal inbox and virtually (like shortcuts) show the emails inside the other inboxes?
Tks

It's simply not possible to implement this feature because its' not supported by IMAP. That's the reason why it's missing is most webmail clients. The only way to implement it is to store all email in database (like desktop and mobile clients do). But this defeats the purpose of an IMAP webmail client for most ISPs (nobody wants to double their storage costs by having email stored on both mail server and database, nobody wants to deal with issues when mail server storage and database get of sync, etc). Things which are trivial for a desktop mail client (single user) become a show stopper for a webmail (which deals with thousands and millions of users).
As for support of single-user installations of webmail - developing a separate webmail for them with database storage of emails instead of IMAP would never return investments, unfortunately.

This is definetly one of the more important features I had also suggested.
If coping with 10 accounts you soon realize that constantly switching between them is not the way to go on forever. I highly recommend to implement this.It would bring Afterlogic closer to being an almost perfect mail client.
